Home from a marathon council meeting in which more than a dozen residents spoke passionately for and against proposed changes to Nash Farm.  Among those speaking on the side of preservation, the co-chairs of the Nash Farm Capital Campaign — I was in the same second grade class as their son at Colleyville Elementary — and a father who brought along his two sons — the younger...

James 2: 14-17
15 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

A Better Grapevine →
I’m proud to be working for a better Grapevine. For accountability in leadership, transparency in decision making and finances and for priorities that put families first.  I campaigned on term limits this spring and I am happy to be working with residents across the city for term limits in Grapevine. Grapevine residents deserve citizen legislators, not career politicians, who will put the...

My prepared comments for tonight's Grapevine City...
My name is Kathleen Thompson. I’m here tonight as a disappointed and concerned Grapevine resident, urging each of you to vote no on item 6 of the agenda, banning free speech and voter greeting at Grapevine’s municipal voting site, the Community Activities Center, during early voting. This is a First Amendment issue. We all have the right to poll greet for any candidate or issue being voted on...

Recycling Pilot Program
Last night after little discussion, the Grapevine City Council unanimously voted to approve a large cart recycling pilot program in two neighborhoods. (Maps here, http://1.usa.gov/utFyUq.) Residents will begin receiving information from Republic Services (Allied Waste), including door hangers in December. Rollout of the program begins in January. This timing coincides with a much larger volume of...
