Last night eight adults and our sweet kiddo filled Grandma Millie’s house with stories and laughter.

I’ve been there two other times, once with Jeremy when we were dating and once with Owen and his cousins.

Made it to Indy
2:47 a.m. local time in Fairland, IN.
We drove straight through. Owen woke up, asked if he could play, then searched the house for his second cousins.
“I love this house!” Owen declared.
13th hour
In Illinois, the 13th hour of the trip. It’s pitch black out.
My only other trip to Illinois was 1999. I met neither Oprah nor Obama. Think of them when I think of here.
Indy trip, Day 1
Highlights: Owen holding my hand for hours because he’s tired.
Seeing the Clinton Presidential Library from the highway. GOP in-laws did not care to stop.
Hearing in-laws bicker over driving. Jeremy and I snicker in the back seat. I grew up in a single parent home and missed out on these moments.

In the course of an hour, I heard three reports about the stunning unemployment numbers. Jeremy came home a few weeks ago announcing layoffs at his company.
