My Final Day at the DNC
Just like the last day of camp, when you don’t want to go home and leave all your new friends behind, this morning is tough on us delegates. On the Invesco Floor
Wow are we close! The Texas Delegation has GREAT seating here at Invesco! They didn’t seat us in the Aurora section of the stadium.
I rode the light rail to downtown earlier to meet a friend I met at Democracy for America candidate/activist training in Austin. We walked the 16th Street Mall and looked for bobble heads (success!) and Obama earrings (not yet).

Leaving Pepsi Center, saw the rest of “The Daily Show” crew, except Samantha Bee.
Asked for a photo and Aasif Mandvi says, “Hey, I took a photo with you yesterday!” Ha! He remembered me then said I had blogged about it.
Yes, I had.
Their producer said no more photos, so I took one step forward, handed over the camera and got the shot anyway!

So Texas didn’t get to announce our roll call.
It was 124 Obama, 96 Clinton and 7 non-votes.
I walked the floor and it’s a different energy down there for the “swing states”.
I walked past New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine for a photo and he accepted and told the photographer, a male Texas delegate, “”I’d much rather have a picture with her than you!”...

My mother reports my grandmother is in the hospital again, but went after she had a shower and checked her mail instead of when she was told to go, so she must be somewhat OK.

I really enjoyed seeing “The Second City” troupe at the Denver Performing Arts Center. Loved the IRA skit (I’m Irish) and the one about the straight man falling in love with Al Gore and his recent work on the climate crisis, because “the hottest years on record are the ones when you’re around,” the actor tells his Gore glossy 8x11. Ha!
