A Woman's Work is Never Done! →
Great photo of the Obamas, with Michelle hard at work and Barack standing there watching. Why does this seem so familiar to me? Hmm.

Overboard?
My friend’s Flickr feed shows face masks and disinfectant at his job for a local university. A friend works for FWISD and all schools are closed through May 8th! Is this going overboard?

Doubting Kathleen
I got the text an hour and twenty minutes ago, from my personal news and weather service pal: “Hot rumor: Arlen Spector is switching parties.” I didn’t believe. I wrote back, “No way!” And now I am a believer. With Sen. Al Franken, we have a filibuster proof majority of 60. Here comes affordable healthcare, cleaner air and much more.  Happy Arlen Specter is now a...

Bedrest, schmedrest
The sounds of Jeremy at the grill and Owen playing with neighborhood kiddos are drifting back here to the bedroom, where I have been all damn day. After a busy day I started having frequent contractions last night, about six or seven an hour. My midwife’s office instructed to lie down immediately, drink quarts of water and stay off my feet the rest of the weekend. Today I missed church...

Ms. Lucy's class update
I really enjoy reading the class updates from Ms. Lucy, Owen’s Montessori guide. This month’s has an interesting part I want to share: “…We have just recently made an incredible discovery. During the everyday activity of counting, we realized that within our class group, we have on the tips of our tongues the ability to count (1-10) in nine languages… Here they are:...

My goodness. I'd like to opt out, please.
I get the weekly pregnancy e-mails from a baby Website and today’s e-mail says I should have gained 10 pounds by now and that I will likely gain a pound a week for the remainder of the pregnancy. No thank you. I don’t plan on gaining 30 pounds. I prefer not to weigh more than my husband.

WatchWatch
KRLD 1080’s 3:00 p.m. news report about area Tea Bagger rallies and our “Support America Rally” (counter protest). I was interviewed about our purpose and about confrontations with Tea Baggers. Our club was not mentioned by name, unfortunately. (I grabbed my camera and recorded the segment. Phone rang twice during the report. Apologies.)

Missing my computer
A good friend names her car, laptop and I don’t know what else. The car’s name is Peter Jennings and the laptop, hmm. Anyway, it’s been more than a week since my great laptop had a hard drive failure. And its years worth of contents, for now, gone. We priced data recovery work and it came out to only $1,900. What a bargain. I could go to Dublin and visit the amazing Dempsey...

Random Compliment
Man with Kirk written on name badge, as I exited the AIDS Walk, after working the Mid-Cities Democrats booth: Do I know you? You look familiar.
Me: I lead the Mid-Cities Democrats and I am active in the Tarrant County Democratic Party.
Kirk: No. You look familiar. (Leaning in, lowered voice) Has anyone ever told you that you look like Jackie Kennedy?
Me: (Laughing) Yes, thank you. I appreciate that more with my growing size (moving clipboard, pointing to belly).
Kirk: Well! You might have a little JFK Jr. Hope to see you around.
The only other time I've had that comparison was from a friend's fiancé. I approved of him, naturally.

Busy Saturday
We began the morning with Breakfast With the Easter Bunny and an egg hunt, then I split to the Cleanup Bedford Day with the Mid-Cities Democrats. Now we are off to Owen’s season opener. He plays for the Blue Jays this spring. Then maybe a BBQ fundraiser or possibly a festival with kite flying and henna painting.
