Screening Liberally!
“Capitalism: A Love Story”
As promised, I have checked today’s listings for Friday, October 2. For now, the only Mid-Cities location showing “Capitalism: A Love Story” is Harkins Southlake Town Center, 1450 Plaza Place, Southlake (in the Southlake Shops, on the Hwy. 114 side). So, Southlake it is.
The move begins at 7:15 p.m. Please gather outside at 7:00 p.m. and...

Our Pen Pal Letter
“Wednesday, 19 November 2008
Dear Monjama,
My name is Kathleen Thompson. I am a thirty-one year old mother of Owen and wife to Jeremy. We live in Grapevine, Texas and are members of First United Methodist Church in Colleyville, Texas.
Owen is four years old and he attends a nearby preschool. He likes to play baseball and help me in our garden. He knows how to write his name and is...

I think it’s really, really, really funny that one of my executive board members sent me this link. She said she thought of me when she saw it. Not sure Jeremy would be OK with sexy lingerie links from a male board member.
But, it’s just fine.
And I am fairly certain no board members read my blog, so it’s OK that I wrote about it too.
Letter to the Editor... That Wasn't Published
Submitted September 14, 2009 to “Star-Telegram” and “Grapevine Courier”:
As a 1995 Grapevine High School graduate and a Grapevine tax payer, I am embarassed and angry that Dr. Kay Waggoner chose to deny the school children of our community the opportunity to hear a message on personal responsibility and the importance of education from President Obama.
Since making the...

From a friend.
Nice!
Can't...breathe!
Some neighborhood boys came over and asked Owen to play. (I love it. He’s four and they are 14 and 9. They play a great kickball game.) But O asked them to come inside. Their stinky boy shoes are smelling up my house. I feel compelled to throw away their shoes and lie that I don’t know where they went.

Are you the mother?
– Strangest comment on Baby Hale at the Organizing for America meeting at the DNC.
Had lots of compliments on him.
But I guess that was a compliment for me since she followed, “You are so slim”.
All done
Enjoyed the meet and greet with Gov. Kaine. There were about 15 other Texas Organizing for America volunteers attending.
Kaine spoke about the DNC’s role in supporting President Obama in relation to healthcare reform, climate change and the importance of encouraging our Democratic lawmakers rather than waste time trying to change the minds of Republicans that vote against pay equity,...
Made it
Longest Austin trip ever!
Just arrived 9 minutes before the meeting.
Slow-going
Past noon and only to Waco.
It’s slow-going traveling with a newborn. Currently sitting next to the Brazos River, feeding Hale.
Austin-bound
Got a call from the Dallas OFA director late yesterday and he told me that I’d been selected to come hear from Gov. Kaine at a session for OFA volunteers in Austin - part of the big DNC meeting in our fair Capital City!
Jeremy could not take off another day of work, so Baby Hale and I are headed for Austin this morning.
Kinky's Coming to Town
Evening Democrats,
I have just received word that Democratic gubernatorial candidate Kinky Friedman will attend the meeting of the Mid-Cities Democrats’ Colleyville-Grapevine-Southlake chapter, after an appearance at a Grapevine cigar shop.
We believe this is Mr. Friedman’s first visit to a grassroots Democratic club in our area.
Mr. Friedman will speak after our regular business...
So Far, So Good
Hale and I watched the President’s address.
So far, Hale seems OK.
The “liberal lies” have yet to have a visible affect on him.
11:00 a.m. CT yet?
Looking forward to the President’s education speech. I have constructed a tin foil hat to keep the socialist indoctrination out.
Thank you, Organized Labor!
Happy Labor Day.
The New Yorker's "Trial by Fire" →
During last night’s marathon feedings, I read this disturbing feature article on a Texas death penalty case in which a wrongly convicted man was executed.
Sorry I don’t agree with the summation. There will be no change in policy, unless the current leadership in the capitol and Governor’s mansion are changed.
I love you, Mommy.

Back in Democratic Action!
Sweated my way through the North Central Democrats Labor Day Weekend Picnic.
Great to be out and about.
Call Your School District!
The Dallas Morning News and The Star-Telegram cite vitriolic e-mails and angry phone calls flooding area school districts because our President will speak directly to students next Tuesday. The speech, to be shown on C-SPAN and educational stations will focus on the importance of education and the importance of staying in school. Other presidents, including George H.W. Bush, gave similar speeches...
