What does it mean when the Exec. Director points at you during a call for committee members?

Meeting Ivan Loar
Elisa and Jon’s new baby Ivan arrived last Wednesday and we got to meet him Friday night. Maya and Hale argued over baby dolls and grocery carts, but I got to hold Ivan and talk to him. Owen and even Jeremy held him too. So tiny and perfect.
O asked this morning where his February calendar is. I became his social secretary a few months back.
My friend Mike broke his arm. Ouch! Hope his Mommy and Daddy and friends can sign his cast too. This photo is for you, Mike!

In preparation for the blizzard, I’m eating a big, hearty breakfast. Think I’ll do so all week.
Rockets, explosions, robots and Legos - I just signed O up for summer classes with the City of Gvine.
Asked at the last minute to teach Kindergarten Sunday School as they were short on teachers. It was so much fun. I think my adult SS class could incorporate arts, crafts and music.
Heard the first morning calls to prayer in Ankleshwar, Gujurat, India, over video on my phone. Amazing. Big brother has arrived safely.
Dear all,
J dresses Hale on the weekends. I am not responsible.
Easy Saturday
J and I had a lovely date at Fort Worth’s Brownstone Restaurant and Modern Art Museum. We peeked in on the TCDP new HQ’s and came home to play and walk to Lake Grapevine.
And back to Ft. Worth for dinner with friends and a movie with the fam.
You know you have a toddler when… you find many random items in the house wet, covered in drool.
We have a rare midday date today. Jeremy and I met on a warm January Saturday like this 13 years ago today, when he knocked on my door in Austin.
The boys didn’t care that it was Saturday and wanted to make sure that we didn’t sleep in.

Guess who is going to Aruba.

Thank God it’s Friday.
Thank Labor Unions it’s Friday.
Thank God and Labor Unions it’s Friday.
Radio is playing Billy Joel’s “My Life”. I know the feeling “go ahead with your own life, leave me alone” and “I don’t care what you say”. I’ve had to say the same thing before, but maybe I should have sung it.
At the Mid-Cities Democrats meeting with guest speaker Pat Hardy, State Board of Education. I disagreed with her position on local control of sex education. I want a state standard of medically accurate/age appropriate education.
The allergy doctor has switched Owen’s medicine, so hopefully he’ll get some relief and we won’t have to hear him clearing his throat every five minutes. Poor his throat, poor our ears.
It shouldn’t take an hour to go from Ft. Worth to Grapevine! This DFW Connector can’t finish soon enough!
I’m thrilled to attend a luncheon today with such an illustrious group including Democratic Party County Chair Steve Maxwell, Constable Sergio De Leon, Representative Paula Pierson, my pals Doreen Geiger, Cheryl Smith and Steve Lerma. What a group!
Wishing my big brother safe travels! He’s returning to India today for several weeks of work. Godspeed.
Working on Owen’s talent show routine. Not sure if he’ll read from paper or cards. Hmmm.
I was swarmed by 6-year-old boys wanting to hug me for good-byes. I dare anyone to top that during my day.
Literacy volunteering at O’s school this morning. Love it.
January 26, 2011 is a good day to be born. Welcome to the world, Ivan Loar.
The Earth must be off its orbit — Jeremy won my SOTU bingo game and Owen is the last man standing (still up!) of the watch party.
(Heavy loud music underneath) ARE YOU READY FOR SOME STATE OF THE UNION?????!!!!!
My SOTU bingo cards. Enjoy! →
I couldn’t find any I liked, so I made these.

Uh-oh. Hale knows how to remove his diaper. I walked in and he was bottomless, holding his wet dipe up.
Oh no! The Blue Moon gallery/boutique store on Main Street is closed. Someone please tell me they’ve just moved!
Electric Blanket
Despite the insulation that Jeremy and I have grown since our 20s, we have decided to purchase and electric blanky. Anyone have a brand to recommend/avoid?
I haven’t used one since I lived in a small white frame house with gas heaters and wood floors.
My State of the Union cards are at the printer. I’ll share later today. They look great!

Do it! And support quality public radio in our area. TODAY.
Home from a nice walk with Dawn and much Grapevine wildlife.
Request for jokes
Owen is performing in his school talent show in a few weeks. He will be telling jokes. He has a few familiar classics in his repertoire, the rest are Owen Johnson creations*.
He gets two full minutes to perform and we are long on time. Can you spare a joke? (It must be clean and appropriate for kindergarteners.)
*Owen will not be telling that one about a diaper and chicken.
