“Montessori Madness — Fast Draw”
This is what Montessori education has meant to us and exactly what we have dealt with in Owen’s transition to GCISD.
Today is Owen’s last day of Kindergarten. We are so happy!
Owen is accepted into GCISD’s program for the academically talented (PAT) for next year. Praying this last week of Kindergarten is the last we ever hear he’s bored in school.
— GCISD administrator at a truly depressing GCISD finances meeting. District is already operating at $6 million deficit, before state cuts.
“The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: Navigating the Finance Trail in GCISD” meeting underway.
Much needed workout and walk with friend postponed. The GCISD school board is meeting tonight and they need to hear NO CUTS to the gifted/talented program. It’s our lifesaver.
Dress Code Violation
Owen’s assistant principal walked him out to me today to tell me his skull and cross bones hoodie was a violation of school policy and that it was in the student handbook. I didn’t remember reading that. She called a short while later to say that it is no longer in the handbook, that parents had complained.
Owen’s Bad Day
Today at school ____ didn’t play fair at Chutes and Ladders, only going up, then ____ and ____ told O he had to be a bad guy and he wanted to play with them, but be a good guy and finally he was “poisoned” on the playground by a bug bite, requiring a nurse visit. A dramatic day for my dramatic boy.
Overheard in the Classroom
“How did you get so tall?” to me. “Owen, do you like me?” from a sweet little girl. He shrugged and smiled. “Ouch, my arm hurts. My precious arm. I love my arm.” from a boy who was supposed to be reading. And my fav, “She’s awesome!” as I walked away after telling a boy he did a great job with a pat on the back.
