Owen and Hale have become the brothers that I wanted them to be — laughing together, helping each other and genuinely loving each other. It took time for Owen to warm up to Hale, after being an only child for so long. Owen was a reluctant big brother, but you wouldn’t know it from these photos.

This weekend and the photography that accompanied the Christmas weekend led to Hale’s newest word, “cheese”, when a photograph is taken. It sounds like this, in a soft tone and high pitch, “chee!”.
So we now have five words and here they are, in their order of arrival: Mama, Dadda, hi, yuck, and cheese.

Owen is on line 16 of 50 - “I will be nice to all people.” He spit on Hale when I left them alone this morning. Since Hale’s birth, he’s hit Hale, bit Hale and now spit on him. For a few moments I considered taking Owen to the woods and leaving him for our Grapevine coyotes. Still in the realm of possibility.

Wearing my purple, gold and green beads from Mardi Gras Gay Bingo and red and yellow beads from dear Dorie. Hale loves them.
